Happy Friday! Lynn and Jimmy’s wedding is this weekend and we are so excited! It’s one of the first ones we’ve done mainly via Skype because Lynn and Jimmy live a few hours away from Omaha! We can’t wait to see it all come together. These photos are beautiful and reminiscent of spring but their wedding will have all sorts of beautiful fall colors!
How did you meet?
We met when I accepted a job in the same town he taught in, Cambridge. We attended Coach’s Clinic in Lincoln together and spent a lot of time together during basketball season. By the time Spring rolled around we were spending more time together.
How did he propose?
It was October 8, 2015 and I was going to watch our high school volleyball team play at an away match at a school 7 miles from Cambridge. Jimmy said he was coming home after football practice and was going to clean the house and grill steaks for supper. I was with my friend Brittney, who knew what was going on the entire time we were at the volleyball game. The game went into 5 sets and lasted a long time which, if any of you know Jimmy, he was sweating more than normal. When I finally got home, supper was ready and the table was set. Jimmy was in a polo and his golfing shorts, which is really weird for him after a night at football practice. When I sat down to eat, I reached under my napkin for my utensils and the ring box was under the napkin. I immediately freaked out and thought it was a ring, but Jimmy just reassured me to open the box first. When I opened the box, there was a gold heart necklace from the 80’s and I had no idea how to react. It was not a pretty necklace, but Jimmy kept saying, “Don’t you like it?” So I immediately tell him I do like it, but lets just eat so we can sit and relax. Once I tried to sit down to eat, he knelt down on one knee and reached in his pocket, pulled out the engagement ring, and said, “Or you can have this if you want it. Will you marry me?” I screamed, grabbed the ring out of his hand and wrapped my arms around him. I was shaking I was so happy. He was shaking too but only because he was nervous and had been at home the whole night thinking about it.
Where are you going for your honeymoon? Why did you choose it?
We are still in the process of planning, but I think we have made a decision about going to Cabo.
What is your favorite vacation you took together?
We went to Las Vegas last summer with another couple who we are very close friends with. We were able to have fun and relax with each other and friends.
What are your favorite shared hobbies?
We are both teachers and love sports. We watch a lot of football Thursday-Monday and have fun making dinner at home together. However, when we do go out, we like a local Mexican Restaurant in McCook.
Tell us about your pets!
Lynn: We have a yellow lab, Stella. She is 9 months old and still acts very much like a puppy!
What was the first thing you noticed about the groom?
I noticed how nice he was and how much he genuinely cared about people and his job.
What was the first thing you noticed about the bride?
How much fun she was to be around.
Tell us about a fun time you had with your future spouse!
Jimmy: I threw a surprise engagement party for her at a tailgate for a Nebraska game. Lots of family and friends showed up to make the party a huge success. Unfortunately the Huskers didn’t come through for us that day.
Lynn: I would have to say the tailgate party he put together the weekend after our proposal. He invited all of my family, his family, and our friends to a tailgate party in Lincoln for a Husker game. I had no idea this was going on and cried when my family all showed up. He knew how important it was that they were involved with our celebrating that he set this up.
