It’s time to introduce to you Cristin and Jonathan! We love how down-to-earth and kind they both are and we are so happy to be a part of their wedding tomorrow!
What was the first thing you noticed about the bride?
The first thing I noticed about Cristin was how fun she was. We met at a small party, and I wasn’t expecting it to be much fun, but this is when I learned it’s impossible to not have fun when she’s around.
What was the first thing you noticed about the groom?
Wow, tough question! That was so long ago, and alcohol was involved… It was probably his sexy athletic build. He was playing college football at the time for UNO.
How did he propose?
Our Saturdays are typically filled with weddings, family events, football games, etc., so when November 7 rolled around, we finally had a day with minimal plans! Jonathan and I slept in, went to the gym, ran some errands, went to the mall, and cleaned the apartment. I remember telling Jon several times that morning, “I just love this day!” We had plans that afternoon to eat with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and two nieces downtown, nothing unusual as we meet up with my family at least monthly to go out to eat. On the way downtown, I called my mom to see where they were. She let me know that they were already downtown and my nieces wanted to play on the big slides off Farnam Street while they waited. We arrived downtown and walked to the slides to notice they weren’t there. Ashley called my mom, and Mom told Ashley the kids got bored and they started walking along the stream behind the slides. Jon, Ashley, and I started walking along the stream, and it was so beautiful with the leaves changing colors! As we kept walking, I noticed not only my family that I was told was attending, but my other five nieces and nephews. As we inched closer, I could see they were holding a sign that read, “Aunt Cristin, Will You Marry Jon?” Jon got down on one knee and asked me to marry him… and of course I said “YES!”
Where are you going for your honeymoon? Why did you choose it?
We are going to Antigua! We have been to a lot of the typical honeymoon places together, like Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Mexico, so we wanted to do something less common. I (Cristin) love to relax by the beach, and Jonathan loves to do the adventurous things, so we chose a tropical place with plenty of things to keep us busy when we want! We contemplated a couple different options before making our decision with our amazing travel agent, Trina, at Four Seasons Travel!
What is your favorite vacation you took together?
We absolutely loved Jamaica. Good food, good booze, good people!
What are your favorite shared hobbies?
We both love football season, even though we don’t always agree on who to root for! I cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and Jonathan is a Husker fan. However, we both love our Atlanta Falcons! Nothing makes us happier than spending time with family and friends watching a good game!
What is your favorite restaurant and dish at that restaurant?
Cristin: Hector’s! Their steak fajitas with their homemade tortillas are to die for!
Jonathan: The whiskey marinated bone-in ribeye at the Drover.
What song is your all-time favorite jam?
Cristin: None of Your Business by Salt-n-Pepa – It’s my go to karaoke song!
Jonathan: You’ll Accompany Me – Bob Seger
Tell us something that makes you proud about your future spouse!
Cristin: I’ve been so proud of Jonathan’s advancement within his career. He worked two accounting internships with Lutz during college, and decided to start his career with them after graduation. Jonathan even passed all of his CPA exams on the first try! He has worked for Lutz full time for about two years, and got a promotion this year, to Senior Accountant. Nothing is more attractive than a guy with a big heart and a good work ethic!
Jonathan: I am most proud of Cristin’s work ethic. This shows in everything that she does; graduating with honors with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, her dedication in the gym, making sure to not fall behind at work, keeping things together around the house, and most recently-planning this wedding! Those are just a few things that come to mind right away.
Tell us something else about your spouse that makes you smile!
Cristin: My most proud moment for Jonathan and I together is the day we bought our first home! We just moved in, in July, and it feels amazing knowing we officially have a place to call our own!
Jonathan: When Cristin and I first started dating, her and a friend stayed over at my apartment after her friend’s work party. I lived with my brother at the time, and apparently she found her way into my brother’s closet in the middle of the night. My brother woke up alarmed, to find her laying in his closet. She came out of the closet and stood next to his bed, until he unwillingly gave her a side of the bed. Cristin and I had a good laugh the next morning hearing the story, and Cristin friend was utterly embarrassed.
Tell us about your pets!
We are in the process of getting our Bernedoodle puppy! He will be home with us on September 10th, and we couldn’t be more excited! We are still uncertain on the name, either Carl or Seger.
