Happy Friday! We’re so excited to introduce Sarah and Kurt to you all today! They’re both very kind and laid-back and we are so happy to make their wedding day incredible tomorrow!
How did you meet?
We met through two of our closest friends, Martina and Shea. (Martina and Shea just got married in May!) They claim that they’d been wanting to set us up, but didn’t want to make it an official awkward set-up. Shea called Martina and invited us to come meet them at Bogies, a little dive bar, on a Husker Saturday. We hit it off right away, and were inseparable the rest of the night. The next day, Kurt asked Martina if he could have my number. He called me and asked if I wanted to get drinks later in the week. We’ve been together ever since!
Tell us one of your favorite memories or moments that you’ve had with your future spouse!
Sarah: One of my favorite things Kurt does is lather up his face wash and do a Mrs. Doubtfire impression. It never fails to make me laugh!
Kurt: Our first walk home together after having too many drinks. We had enough liquid courage to discuss the possibility of moving in together, getting married, and if we wanted kids or not. Before that we were both a little too shy to discuss this.
How did he propose?
We went to brunch the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and were planning to go to my parents house to have a little birthday get together for my moms birthday. After we left brunch, Kurt suggested we stop somewhere to get a bloody mary. We pulled up to the Homy Inn, and I wasn’t thinking much of it. We went there quite a bit when we first started dating and it’s where we had our first kiss….(Not realizing that it was the same day and place 3 years before.)
Next thing I knew, Kurt was down on one knee in the middle of the parking lot rattling off his entire speech that I can’t remember. We went inside to celebrate with a glass of champagne on tap and went to my moms “birthday party,” that was actually a party to surprise my sisters with the news!
Where are you going for your honeymoon? Why did you choose it?
Kurt agreed to plan the honeymoon all by himself and surprise me! I have no clue when and where we are going. We did make a couple of ground rules, so he knows Council Bluffs is out of the question. 😀
What was the first thing you noticed about the groom?
His adorable dimples.
What was the first thing you noticed about the bride?
Her smile.
What are your favorite shared hobbies?
Without question, eating! We love trying new restaurants, going to happy hour and talking about where and what we’re going to eat next. To justify all of the eating we do, we try to do as many challenges on our FitBits as we can.
What is your favorite restaurant and dish at that restaurant?
Sarah: That’s a tough question!! I always crave Mexican food, specifically nachos, but I’d have to say my favorite restaurant is Pitch. I haven’t had anything on the menu that I didn’t like!
Kurt: Impossible to answer this question correctly but the Cubano at Benson Brewery or the smokepit at Mouth of the South. Maybe the Mexican casserole at 11-Worth after a night of a few too many drinks.
Tell us about your pets!
Sarah: Pet, fur child, same thing! We have an 11-year-old Westie named Benny. Basically, I’m obsessed with him and he only likes me if I have food in my hands.
Kurt: He is a grumpy little bastard that only listens when you mention treats. Him and I have a lot in common.
What song is your all-time favorite jam?
Sarah: Prince – Raspberry Beret
Kurt: Hall and Oates – You Make My Dreams Come True
