This weekend I took a trip to Minneapolis to recharge and hang with friends! We found a little free library, explored all over the bottom 4 floors of Mall of America (supposedly walking over 4 miles!), and had some of the best frozen yogurt ever!
Perhaps the highlight of this weekend’s trip – we went to Target Field to watch an MLB baseball game!
The catch? I’m not a baseball fan in the slightest. But, it has been a very long time since I gave baseball a chance (both on tv and in person) so I thought it was time to give it another shot.
Being adventurous can lead to discovering new fun things! After all, “great things never came from comfort zones.” Maybe one day, you will stumble upon something awesome and even if you don’t, you will start to learn things about yourself (and about life).
I stumbled upon Pinkberry a few years ago when I went to NYC because it was right across from the hotel I was at. I had never even heard of it before but there were so many people standing in line to get it, it must be good! It turned out to be the most delicious fro yo and I think it made frozen yogurt popular again! (Sorry TCBY) Pinkberry is still my favorite frozen yogurt place and I get it every chance I get, even though there isn’t one in Omaha! Conveniently, (or maybe not so conveniently) there is one in the Mall of America so stopping by was a must!
As for baseball, it was better than I expected 🙂 There were some interesting things I liked and I’m sharing some comments and tips that I think you will find very helpful if you ever go to a game and defines our experience well:
1. It is more fun to be in the action rather than watch it on tv! When you’re sitting at home, you miss out on being around the other fans while you all cheer in celebration and of course you also miss the t-shirt cannon!
2. There were a lot of random perks for going to the game – advertisements for 1 cent off per gallon of gas for every hit the home team made, listening to a quartet sing God Bless America, watching a local kid’s orchestra, and even a few daytime fireworks.
3. You can justify buying a sun hat by telling yourself that it will come in very handy in any future baseball games.
4. Mid 80s is a very sweaty temperature for watching a baseball game. Don’t wear jeans.
5. You can never be too over prepared. I had packed a bottle of sunscreen to apply and reapply during the game. Unfortunately it was nearly empty and we all have at least a couple red splotches to show for it.
6. When your $4.50 bottle of water isn’t as satisfying to drink, slowly pour capfuls of water on your head instead.
All in all, mixing up the daily routine is fun once in a while! I wouldn’t mind going to a game sometime in the future – when it’s a little cooler out! It’s good to be adventurous because you might discover something new that is better than you thought (baseball) or something awesome that you love! (Pinkberry!) Tastes can change over time and who knows? Maybe you’ll even stumble upon something great 🙂
