When Basic Bash first started, we had an interesting time getting others to know we existed! It was a slow process because for wedding planners in particular, we had to wait a LONG time before we were able to share the work we had been doing. Breaking into the wedding industry is probably no different than any other creative industry and now that we can look back on our progress, we have some wisdom to share with you today!
1. Reach out to local wedding planners
This first tip is directed toward other wedding vendors – reach out to a planner! Planners are probably the best resource for introducing you to people that are interested in you! If you mesh with a planner, you will probably mesh with their clients so reach out to your favorite ones and see what you can do together 🙂
2. Quantity over Quality
A good starting point may be just to let everyone know that you and your business exist. If others have heard of you, that is step one. The more times you get in front of your audience, the more they start to remember you and you may even start to pique their interest! Potential clients may be tempted to inquire the more they see the good work that you are doing. It can take up to 7 “impressions” of your business before a person becomes interested enough to inquire or book!
3. Show your knowledge and/or skill
Others need to hear about you, but more importantly they need to know that you are a reputable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy person. Share (whatever you can of) your work, some bits and pieces of your knowledge, and be an overall good business owner and your reputation will start speaking for itself!
