Now is the time when we take a second to pause and reflect on the last year. When we can dream about our goals, ambitions, and a better and brighter future! 2015 was a good year and we’re hoping for an even better 2016! Today’s post is about Kayla’s (my!) personal goals for the year. I know that this is Basic Bash’s blog, and not my personal blog but we want Basic Bash to have a little piece of us in it! That and putting our goals on paper makes us a bit more accountable. It worked last year so might as well try it again!
I want 2016 to be lived to its fullest. I want it to be successful, fun, inspiring, and a year of growth. SO MUCH can happen in a year, you just need some goals and a plan 🙂 That being said, I purchased Lara Casey Powersheets for some intentional goal setting guidance and began dreaming about what I wanted to accomplish for this year! This is my first year of Powersheets so we will see how it goes! Here are my goals for the year:
Be Healthy
Unfortunately, I am one of those people that when life gets too crazy, exercise and eating healthy is the first thing to go! For me, when I fall off the bandwagon, the hardest part is starting again so, I want to do small things that add up to make big differences. Things like ‘being active for 15 minutes a day’ or ‘have a salad for dinner’ or ‘drink more water’. Little changes have caused me to feel the most tired and sluggish I have ever felt so little changes should also help me get out of this slump, right?
Create Systems
This goal specifically refers to Basic Bash. I want to write down everything and have a super organized system when it comes to EVERYTHING – client meetings, styled shoots, the blog, finances, and our workflow. This will help up spend less time thinking and more time taking action and doing!
Cut Spending
I’m gonna be real for a bit, I am not the best at that thing – I think it’s called ‘saving’. I’d love to have an emergency fund by the end of the year! I really want to get my finances in order so I recently downloaded the Mint app (it’s free!) and have been tracking my personal budget through that! It is one of the best systems I have tried and I highly recommend it! To do this, I’ll have to cut back on things like traveling 🙁 and making big purchases and going out to eat! One positive thing about this is that I am excited to fill my life and my home with things that matter, and with quality over quantity!
Make time for me!
When I am content in my own life, I am able to spread that contentment to others. I was recently on a plane so I have this analogy: the flight attendant always says to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others with theirs. You have to get your own stuff in order before helping others! Or at least I do, because when I am not at my best, it is so hard to lift others up. This goal is awesome because my action steps for it are things like ‘meditate’ and ‘take a bath’ 🙂 I think I should have no problem completing this one!
Goal setting is something that we like to do at the beginning of the year because it’s a fresh start! We’d love to hear your 2016 goals! Are they similar? Let us know!
Note: I purchased Powersheets on my own and again the Mint app is free! This post is not sponsored!
