When we were coming up with the idea for this shoot, the goal was to design something that would fit in the venn diagram in the little overlapping section in the middle of boho and Basic Bash style. We brainstormed a theme that would be minimalistic, natural, and colorful and we ended up with a watercolor bird/feather inspired concept where some of our favorite details emerged. The feather pitcher, the adorable bird cake, and of course the DOVES really pulled this shoot together. The watercolor place cards and invitation suite by Ally B Designs matched perfectly with the stock and eucalyptus in the florals by I Bloom.
Set in Elmwood Park, the shoot was really low key i.e. we used a lot of our own pieces for the tablescape and the sitting area and even DIYed that pretty macrame cake backdrop! The foliage in Elmwood wasn’t too cooperative so we decorated the greenery behind the sitting area to give it a more floral vibe – a detail that I also loved. I still remember though this was over a year ago(!) that it was incredibly cold that day so our models were real MVPs.
This is a shoot we did last year that got featured on WeddingWire that we are finally blogging. Yay! (If you want to see the feature, you can go here!) This style pushed us out of our comfort zone a bit but we are happy with how it all turned out!
