About a month ago, we took a trip to Denver for the Creative at Heart Conference! It was at the perfect time in the year to rejuvenate and re-energize us for the wedding season ahead!
I actually went to C@H once before last November and it was such a fabulous and rewarding experience – meeting other creative entrepreneurs and learning from some of the best in the industry were invaluable and this time was no different! I love being at the Creative at Heart conference because being in that welcoming and educational environment has the ability to spark great ideas and great change in our businesses!
Creative @ Heart gives us the opportunity to think about all of the great things we’re doing in our businesses and reminds us to celebrate them! As I sat in the room surrounded by all of these other creative entrepreneurs I didn’t feel alone in thinking that there were definitely some areas of success and other areas of struggle. The struggle is a challenge but it’s one of my favorite parts of business ownership because at each iteration we are getting better. Knowing that areas of improvement exist is awesome because it means that we have room to grow and that we are in control of our own success.
As planners, having endless lists of to-dos is just going to happen. But because of this it can be hard to take a step back and remember that all of this work is because of our big picture goal – ‘why we started’ and ‘what our purpose is’. One of the best things that I learned at my time at C@H is that you are feeling uninspired or overwhelmed, you have to remember that this business isn’t about us and our wants and needs. Yes, we need to make a profit to be able to sustain ourselves and this business but other than that, this business is about serving and giving to others to improve their lives – through weddings!
