It seems like setting New Year’s Resolutions happened forever ago – do you even remember the word you picked for the year? In years past, I chose a word but forgot about it, probably around February 1 but this year I’m trying to be a lot more focused and… I think you’ll understand when you see the word I chose. This year, I am feeling much more inspired and ready to tackle some different aspects of my life that have been neglected like home decor and health tbh.
Choosing my word for the year was challenging because I have a wide variety of goals that I want to accomplish so it had to apply to most, if not all of them. Plus, it was hard to think of exactly the right word because words like “routine” and “regular” don’t really have a compelling, motivational feel to it and don’t really convey the sentiment I was looking for. After much searching on thesaurus.com 😉 I found the right word!
My word for the year is
Discipline
A lot of the goals I want to achieve are the result of repeated actions. Blogging and slowly organizing/decorating our house isn’t going to happen in a marathon day – that would be so obnoxious and annoying. I want to start taking more vitamins and if you don’t know, you aren’t supposed to pop a ton once a week, a few each day is ideal. Eating healthy and working out more are the same way, although I could work out for 4 hours a day on the weekends if I *really* wanted to, something tells me that’s not the best idea. Tackling these goals piece by piece over time is the key and so, discipline is the key.
So there you have it. It’s pretty simple but packs a lot of meaning and applies to lots of situations! I’d love to hear what word of the year you chose and how it’s going for you so far!
