A few weeks ago, Daniel and I took a trip to visit his brother in Los Angeles! It’s been pretty cold and winter-y here right now so I thought that today would be a good time to share a recap of our trip on the blog!
We saw the pretty lights of LA as we descended into LAX at around 10 pm. First stop: In-N-Out!
The next day we had delicious breakfast croissants at Grand Casino in Culver City and headed to the California Science Center where we saw the Endeavor space shuttle! Thinking about space makes you feel pretty small and insignificant but even standing near a space shuttle can do that, too – it was huge! It’s been a long time since I remembered that space travel was a thing and it was so awe-inspiring to think that people built a vehicle years ago (pre-Smartphone era) that could travel in space!
Later that night, we went to a barber shop that turned out to be a speakeasy! :O
Daniel wanted to get a haircut before we left for the trip but I was able to talk him out of it (luckily) because he got a surprise belated Christmas haircut present from his brother! (lol)
The next day, we went to a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio! We saw backlots full of realistic scenery including the spot where Spiderman gives Mary-Jane an upside-down kiss! We saw one of the sets of a coffee shop that they used in Pretty Little Liars, a water tower with the Arrow and the Flash on it, and SOOO many Batman and Harry Potter props! We saw the cast of the Lego movie 😉 I got sorted by the sorting hat (Slytherin :() and Daniel got to be the president for a brief second!
After that, we headed to Sugarfish, an amazing and highly regarded sushi restaurant where you are strongly encouraged to order the “Trust Me” so that’s what I did. I had the best tuna ever (who knew tuna tasted good?) and the sushi was awesome in general. The rice was warm and delicious and the seaweed had a nice crunch if you ate it fast enough 🙂
The rest of the trip consisted of many more delicious restaurants – a ramen place, a burger place, Pinkberry (of course), a pasta place, and more. We roamed around The Grove and the Griffith Observatory, did some shopping, visited my bro-in-law’s workplace, took a selfie on a rooftop –
We went to a trivia night and came in 8th out of 20+ teams, we talked to a celeb (the Pontiac Bandit from Brooklyn Nine Nine aka Craig Robinson), went to another speakeasy, walked, rode the metro, used Lyft, and saw this light thing, more formally known as Urban Lights –
It was a packed 4 days but we had so much fun in LA enjoying the 60 degree weather. We’re hoping for decent drives and non-freezing temps today in Omaha, fingers crossed!
