Hey everyone, Angela here!
This past week and a half was an absolute whirlwind in the world of my day job. I work in IT and have always been drawn to IT project management (kind of like the tech version of wedding planning ๐ ) and was so happy and #blessed to accept a new position within my company doing just that! As part of this new job, I was sent out to NYC this week to get caught up on the projects I’ll be working on, along with meeting everyone at our offices out there!
Having never been to New York, you could definitely say I was having a “dream come true” moment. I had always loved the idea of NYC, and it was especially solidified when I was watching The Hills (aka my favorite TV show in early high school) and Lauren Conrad (my main girl crush who I share a wedding date with lol) was sent to NYC for different parts of her job in fashion. I was always like “that’ll be the dream when I get to take a business trip out to NYC” and I cannot believe that it actually happened!!!
On my way there, I got the window seat and could see the ENTIRE city skyline plus the Statue of Liberty as we were flying in. I literally had to hide my face from my fellow passengers because I was just overcome with emotion… So much history and culture and feelz wrapped up in one scene was overwhelming to me!
While I was in the city, I took my first cab and uber rides, tried and failed to hail a cab many times, and walked sooo much! Since I was mostly working while there, I didn’t have much time to do sight-seeing, but I was able to see the Empire State Building and Grand Central Station since they were right on my way to work! I also had the pleasure of seeing New Yorkers in their natural element of hustle and bustle, and everyday high fashion! Luckily I had packed some clothes that would fit in (I hope at least!). Although I think my constant looking up in awe and taking photos while walking gave me away as a visitor. ๐
I did also get to sneak in a quick trip to Brooklyn and have dinner with my brother-in-law, Alex! We went to a delicious dumpling restaurant called Vanessa’s, and it made me so curious about trying the other hundred types of cuisines served around there.
To be extremely cliche, my short trip was a true “New York minute”. I am so happy that I was able to go, and I am also so exited to really dive into this new job. ๐ Hopefully I’ll get to go back to the ~concrete jungle where dreams are made of~ sooner rather than later!
Thanks for reading everyone, hope you have an amazing week!
