Embracing life comes a lot easier in the summer when your sunglasses and flip flops are all you need for a day out. Want some ideas for how to spend your summer? Here’s what we are doing!
1. Traveling or watching sports!
I took a trip to Minneapolis last weekend – did some shopping (Hello Mall Of America!) and watched a baseball game! See more here. It’s always exciting to go somewhere new!
2. Camping! (Glamping? Cabin-ing?)
If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, Platte River State Park is only 30 minutes outside of Omaha and this is where we spent the end of last week. We were probably the most outdoorsy that we’ve ever been in our entire lives combined. Lol. But really though, these are not the faces of country folk.
We spent those days in a cabin and while it was a very modern shelter (hello our friend, the AC), we also did some actual outdoorsy things – horseback riding, paddle boating, doing archery, and seeing an authentic Nebraska waterfall. We had the best time and had so many new and memorable experiences!
The pose of an excited camper 🙂
Kaitlyn had much success hitting the stationary foam deer and velociraptor.
A small waterfall, but a waterfall nonetheless.
There was also grilling for almost every meal, s’mores were mandatory, and card game craziness ensued.
3. Concert-ing!
The annual Bank Of The West free concert in Memorial Park was this past Friday and I arrived just in time to hear “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money – success! I also went to spend time with my family. It is an annual tradition and we spent time eating dinner, hanging out, and watching fireworks.
There is also ANOTHER concert coming up soon – Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional and if you don’t know anything about Daniel – those are two of his favorite bands. They make his top 20 at least 🙂 There are so many good concerts and festivals in the midwest this year!
4. Reunion-ing!
I was looking forward to this day for many years and FINALLY it was here! This past Saturday was our 5 year high school reunion and it was awesome. If you are having a reunion this year, I would encourage you to go, even if no one from your friend group is going, and catch up with the people you haven’t seen in -insert number here- years!
Angela and I set up the room for a fiesta-inspired night and we are thrilled with how the décor turned out! (More decor and details pics to come later this week!) And of course we had to commemorate a highlight of the occasion – Marian cookies!
For the ladies that stayed until the end, we gave them all the below photo as a surprise souvenir of the night!
Hope this gave you some more ideas for vacationing this summer because it’s time to push through another Monday!
As exhausting as events and trips can be, the moments that you share with friends, family, classmates, and more are irreplaceable and we wouldn’t have done it any other way.
