Back in December, Kayla attended the Pursue Holiday Workshop so it is about time we do a little recap post of it 🙂
The workshop was held in Plenty Mercantile, a home decor type store in Oklahoma City. I would describe it as a rustic Urban Outfitters with less clothes and more kitchen and office goods.
Hidden in the back of the store there was a studio area that was set up for an afternoon of festive holiday brush calligraphy and floral design.
We started off with some amazing snacks and cocktails from Chris Castro of Salt and Smoke. The food and drinks were amazing – who knew rosemary could be so versatile? Chris used it on some delicious bread and as a garnish in a pink drink. It was a little chilly that day so the warm bread hit the spot.
Then we jumped right into brush calligraphy with Molly Perkins. This is a much faster and attainable way to get the calligraphy look. If you don’t have awesome handwriting to begin with, this may be a bit difficult to get the hang of. Molly makes it look so easy! Below is a sample of her designs.
Lastly, we created table arrangements with Poppy Lane Designs. This was what I was looking forward to the most! I loved that we had a wide variety of flowers to work with and it was so interesting to see all of the different types of arrangements that everyone made. This was my very first bouquet and I went for a wide abundant look. It turned out great!
It was so much fun to be a calligrapher and a florist for a day!
