Flowers are some of our favorite components of weddings. Besides the venue, they probably have the biggest impact on the look and feel of a wedding! Wedding flowers make wedding portraits pop and unlike food or music, you can usually enjoy them for a few days after the wedding! They can make a wedding look anything from spring-y bordering on Easter to looking like a boho garden. We love flowers but we understand that there are many people who really aren’t picky or enthusiastic about flowers or who just need a TON of flowers for a decent price. For those that are looking to save a bit on your flowers, here are 2 tips for you!
1. Use Flowers that are In Season
The easiest way to avoid high floral costs is to use flowers that are in season. Better yet, use flowers that are in season year round! Roses and alstroemeria are always a good bet. Carnations are often overlooked but they are fluffy and they can be exposed to any kind of weather and still look great in photos!
2. Use Common Flowers or Flower Colors
It’s pretty straightforward that if you have to import poppies from Holland, they’ll be hard on your budget. But the same can be said for unique flower colors! If you’re looking for an exact match to your Pantone swatch, it’s best to be flexible with the type of flower you are looking for. Florists can dye or paint some flowers to your requested shade but it could look unnatural and also expensive! Instead of searching for exact shades of flowers, go for a variety of flower colors that are in the same color family or are slightly lighter and darker than the color you want.
Sometimes you have to choose between quality and quantity so if you need a lot of quantity, try these strategies!
