We love looking at our wedding photos every so often to reminisce about our best days ever! There’s no question that wedding photos are a necessity. Photos let you capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments and memories for years to come!
We know that photography and videography are pretty much wedding staples but we also know that some of you have to make choices between photography or videography, or between photography and something else! Here are some situations when you should invest a little more in a photographer or videographer or look into one, if you haven’t already!
When to Invest in Photography
1. When using your photos as decor
If you are planning on putting your wedding photos on display, especially if you want to use one to create a 20×30 canvas, the quality has to be excellent! Look for a photographer with a good eye who not only takes good pictures, but also takes those artsy pictures that you could see blown up and hung on the wall of your future home together.
2. When buying an album you will look at it forever
Some people love looking at albums! I’ll be honest, I rarely look at our guestbook and have not really been regretted about not having a wedding album. (I’ll get one made eventually…) BUT, if you love looking through albums over and over again, you will want to have high quality and high quantity images to relive your day through the pages of your wedding album.
3. Whenever you will reminisce about your wedding day!
After the wedding day, the food is eaten, the guests go home, the flowers may live a few more days, but the party has ended. One of the only ways you will have to relive your wedding day is through photographs! You can share your photos with anyone and everyone after the wedding so you want photos you can be proud of, that can candidly depict the day, and that takes you back to those special moments every time you look at them!
When to Invest in Videography
1. When you want to rewatch your wedding day!
If you are not a fan of watching yourself on video, you may not think videography is worth it. Having a video of your day is something that you may find unnecessary today, but may regret not having in the future! You may not want to rewatch your entire ceremony but you’ll definitely want to have the video of your guests dancing 😉
2. When you want audio of your big day!
One of the big limitations about photos is that they only capture a moment. Videos give those moments context. You can listen to your officiant say ‘you may now kiss the bride’, hear your first dance song, and listen to all the toasts and stories your guests tell. That, friends, is invaluable!
3. When you want to capture ALL the moments!
If you are at all worried about your photographer missing a second of the action, hire a videographer! There’s no better way to relive the action than to see the action unfold all over again!
We have never heard of anyone being unhappy about spending a little extra on photography or videography. These are investments that are SO worth it! When you are reminiscing about your wedding day 5, 10, 30 years from now, you will be glad you have these photos or videos, no matter the price!
