Yay, we have been waiting for this wedding for a long time! Casey and RJ are a hardworking and down-to-earth couple and it was so fun working with them for their wedding! One of the cool things about wedding planning is that SO much can happen in between when we start and the actual wedding and we get to watch the journey unfold a tiny bit. They’re both so close to being married AND being dentists now and we are so happy for them! Here’s more about Casey & RJ!
How did you meet?
We met while both attending dental school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry. Our friend Jared suggested we go to our “GV Black Tie” Formal together and that was how we first started “talking.” A few months later, we started dating. The rest is history. 🙂
How did he propose?
RJ and Casey took a weekend vacation to Scottsdale, AZ in October of 2015. The first night there they went to dinner. As they were finishing up, the waiter brought out a plate filled with Casey’s favorite thing (dessert!) and on the plate it had written “Will You Marry Me?” in chocolate. RJ then proposed with the most gorgeous ring Casey had ever seen.
After that, they went back to the resort to celebrate with drinks by the fire pits. As they walked up to a fire pit, Casey noticed some familiar looking people…their parents! RJ had surprised Casey by having both his parents and her parents there for the proposal weekend! They all spent the weekend together hot air ballooning, lounging by the pool and shopping!
Where are you going for your honeymoon? Why did you choose it?
St. Lucia. We wanted something tropical and all inclusive!
What was the first thing you noticed about the groom?
So handsome! And tall! The first time I met him I had just gotten back from a run in the August heat and he was at my house with my roommate, Jared. I was trying to get upstairs before he could really notice how gross and sweaty I was…I don’t think it worked!
What was the first thing you noticed about the bride?
Her beautiful smile.
What are your favorite shared hobbies?
Staying active. We love the lake!
What is your favorite restaurant and dish at that restaurant?
Casey: I love pizza. If I could eat it every day, I would. My favorite pizza is Pyros Pizza–but that is because you get to “make your own”, kind of like Chipotle. However, they could always add more cheese. You can never have too much cheese.
RJ: Hunans buffet
Tell us one of your favorite times with your future groom!
Casey: Watching him become a dentist has been pretty awesome. He has worked so hard and I’m so proud of him! I also LOVE watching him with my niece and nephews. That is pretty special.
Tell us one of your favorite times with your future bride!
RJ: Casey graduating from pediatric dental residency in Memphis and moving in with me in Kansas City. No more long distance!
What song is your all-time favorite jam?
Casey: Changes daily -currently, Cake By The Ocean.
RJ: What You Know – T.I.
Congrats guys! One more day to go!
