Today’s post is all about the Designed and Styled Workshop I attended back in July!
Florals are what brings a wedding design together. They are such a focal point of the day because flowers bring so much color and personality and life to the whole scene! Because they are such an important piece of your day – I wanted to learn all about floral design! Hands on education is the fastest way to learn a craft such as floral design so of course when I learned about this, I jumped on the opportunity to attend this workshop hosted by Amanda Veronee and Kat Schmoyer of Dear Sweetheart Events!
Everyone was so cute and nice! Loved hanging out with all these ladies for a day 🙂
The Trip:
Daniel and I tag teamed it driving all the way to Virginia and the drive was insane! We made a pit stop in Chicago to visit Daniel’s cousin and his family (and get popcorn and Pinkberry – #priorities) and so we could split the drive in half. It was pretty uneventful except for Pennsylvania where the mountains made for spotty cell reception and scary downhill descents at 70+ mph. D:
The Workshop:
The workshop started bright and early at 8 am with me and 5 other attendees creating a pergola! If you don’t know what a pergola is – you may probably know it as something like an arch or a chuppah or something that looks like this:
After that, we had a session of styling tips and tricks and practiced styling our cute workshop gift bags! Then lunch and then a whole session on floral pricing and more floral design! We ended it all with headshots (which you’ve already seen around the site!) and a beautiful tropical styled shoot!
Look at that cute arrangement on the left 😉
Amanda and Kat are so giving with their knowledge, time, and talent and I am so grateful for their mentorship and guidance. What I gained was incredible. We had an opportunity to have not only valuable practice but also make new friends. We not only learned but also gained confidence and that is something you can’t get just at any workshop. 🙂
