Your wedding vendors work tirelessly to make sure everything for your big day is exactly how you imagined! They’re your friends and confidants when it comes to all things wedding.
So what’s customary for tipping the people who help bring your wedding day vision to life? We’re here to offer you some helpful advice!
Catering Staff:
The key thing to note is that a Service Fee is not the same as a gratuity. If it is not automatically factored into your bill, we recommend setting aside 15-20% – similar to a restaurant.
Hair and Make-Up:
If you have a professional coming in to doll up you and your girls, you should tip them the same amount you would for any other appointment. Standard is 15-20% of the service.
Officiant/Ceremony:
Whether your officiant is denominational or nondenominational, they should receive a little something for their services. Some ceremony locations let couples use their space for free, such as a church. In that case, you may want to make a donation via the officiant of around $100+.
Wedding Party Transportation:
You and your wedding party may want to enjoy a drink (or two) while you ride around town during that time in between the ceremony and reception. If you hired a transportation service, don’t forget to give the driver a reasonable percentage of the bill (20%). Some companies have a recommended amount to give the driver, others include it in the total price so be sure to find out which type you have.
Other vendors to think about:
Photographer, DJ or band, delivery and setup staff, wedding planner, basically everyone else!
Everyone does tipping a bit differently and while all vendors appreciate a tip, of course, if cash is low a thank you card will always put a little smile on their face.
Reviews or referrals also go a long way! So if you have an awesome videographer or a planner who goes above and beyond 😉 – shout out to them on places like The Knot, WeddingWire, their Facebook page, etc. Your recommendations and reviews mean the world to them and it really makes all the difference!
Pro tip: if you give your tip envelopes to your planner beforehand, they’ll make sure they get into the right hands. One less thing to worry about!
