Coordination and last-minute details have been on our minds lately as we and our couples prepare for wedding season! Day-of details can often go overlooked because there are just SO. MANY. THINGS. happening all at once! (Can’t the groomsmen just humor you and send in their reply cards?) We listed below some commonly overlooked details (that we may or may not know because of personal experience) and we hope that you never overlook any details that would make you have to rush to Target 30 minutes before it closes so you can buy sandals for your honeymoon because your flight leaves the next morning.
1. Food and drinks for your bridal party
Your bridal party will start the wedding day pretty early and be hanging out with you all day! You’ve got dinner covered but what about breakfast and lunch for yourselves and your besties? Fruit, bagels, donuts, granola bars all make for a quick and easy breakfast. Make sure your bridal party stays well-hydrated throughout the day too! Otherwise, bad things may happen after a party bus ride. A hot summer day + beer + your bridal party = potentially hilarious photos or potentially disastrous ones?
2. Designated clean-up person (people)
At the end of the night, you’ll probably be the only one that knows where everything goes and how everything should be packed up but no one wants to end their own wedding night cleaning! Besides, there’s not much cleaning up you’ll be able to do in your wedding dress. 😉 Find the venue’s expectations for cleaning up and communicate that (and a game plan) to the people that *will* be cleaning up for you! Don’t forget about the getting ready room, too!
3. All the leftovers (food or decor)
Are you going to be unpacking boxes of decor? Don’t throw the boxes out! Hide them in a back room or under the cake table so that you have somewhere to put the decor when all is said and done!
Additionally, if your caterer will let you bring leftovers home, don’t forget to bring some containers for the food! (And give it to someone else if you leave soon for your honeymoon!)
If you have rentals from a rental company, make sure you have someone else return your rentals for you if you’ll be MIA soon because you’ll be going on…
4. The Honeymoon!
If you have been super busy with wedding details, how can you even begin to think about the honeymoon? Don’t forget to stock up on cute swimsuits, cover ups, floppy hats or whatever attire is appropriate for your first married vacation. And also, don’t forget to mentally prepare yourself for the honeymoon!! Stalk your hotel or resort and daydream about far-off travels with your new lifelong travel buddy – maybe you’ll start up having honeymoon dreams instead of wedding nightmares. 🙂
5. You!
You can’t be the point person or run around the morning of the wedding making sure everything is running smoothly. You will be in hiding, hanging out with your bridesmaids, and trying to relax before you tie the knot so don’t plan on setting up anything the day of your wedding! Prep for your wedding day the best you can and then hand off any day-of responsibilities to someone else while you enjoy the company of your closest friends, your out of town relatives, all to celebrate you guys and your love!
There are SO many moving pieces to a wedding that if it ever becomes overwhelming or stressful, you may want to consider getting a planner! A wedding planner can help lift some wedding responsibilities off of your shoulders and create a stress-free and fun wedding day for you! We help you think of everything you haven’t (like these!) and we handle it so that you can have peace of mind and a wonderful wedding day to remember for many years to come!
The weekend is almost here and that means the grand opening for NOAH’s Event Venue is tomorrow! 😀 We will be there from 11 am – 2 pm so stop by and take a tour, see us, sample some delicious food, listen to music and more – it will be an amazing time!
