It’s every girl’s dream to pick out her own presents, right? We love the idea of going to our favorite stores and compiling a list of all the things you and your man may need someday. On the other hand, there are a lot of couples who want to do something a little more unique and personalized! Maybe you have a fully stocked home already or you’ll be moving cross-country and just don’t want to accumulate a whole bunch of stuff to take with you post-wedding. Not everyone wants to create a wedding registry and we have some perfect alternatives for you and your guests!
Cash Funds
Cash funds aren’t as taboo as they used to be now that Gofundme and other similar crowdsourcing websites have become more common. You can set up funds on sites such as Honeyfund or NewlyWish. The great advantage of having these accounts is that your guests can log in and easily make a donation. No more worrying about who will guard the gift table because it’s all digital now! The cash you collect can go toward something for yourselves or directly donated to your favorite charities. Honeyfund offers cash fund options for the couples’ honeymoon and home improvement ventures. NewlyWish is very similar but the funds are set up for more specific activities such as charity donations, and memberships.
Wine and Beer Registry
You and your new husband deserve to kick back and relax with a nice glass of sweet red. You only need so many wine glass sets, but you can never have too many bottles of wine or cold brews. 😉 You have many different options for this such as beer or wine-of-the-month subscriptions, scanning beer and wine at Target (literally you can scan anything you want!), or registering on a beer and wine website dedicated to your favorite drinks. Cheers!
Daily Deals
With sites such as Groupon, Living Social, and Yipits your guests will make sure you never have a dull moment. For more adventurous couples, you can send out a list of things the two of you want to try in your city. Who knows? Maybe during your first year of marriage you’ll find yourselves on a riverboat tour or taking a course in bartending.
Yes, we love the tradition of taking that fun little scanner and creating a list of nice stuff to fill your first home together, but we also love wine, new experiences, and creating a lifetime of memories. No matter which option you choose, just make sure it’s the right one for you and your husband.
