Happy New Year!
Each year always seems to fly by, but 2015 especially did! Today, we’re looking back on the personal goals we set last January. After all, it’s that time again when we take a second to pause, reflect on our lives so far and our dreams, goals, and ambitions, and look towards a better and brighter future! 2015 was a good year and we’re hoping for an even better 2016!
Embrace Today
In the past, we would put things like “learn a new skill” and “look at cute dogs for fun” on a “things to do… eventually” list. In 2015, we resolved to create fun plans and make them happen! Because in the midst of the busyness of life, we still need time for fun. We did a few fun business things like attend tons of networking events and open houses, meet with vendors, and travel to the east coast (twice!) for some amazing learning experiences! We also did a lot of random stuff (just because) like host lip sync contests, do Yoga in the Park, go “glamping”, host our high school reunion, go to the Street of Dreams, and lead the Tuesdays Together – Omaha chapter!
I think we can safely say that we succeeded in carpe diem-ing in 2015 and is something that we will continue doing this coming year!
Let Go of Fear
To be an entrepreneur, you have to be able to let go of fear, or at least acknowledge it and then do whatever you want to do anyway. Your primary motivation should be driven by hope or some other positive outcome, not to avoid guilt or because of fear. So about a year ago, this was particularly relevant in our lives. Fear would keep us from change, it kept us from pursuing big things, having fun, and growing. Most importantly, fear kept us from being authentic. Fear of judgement, criticism, and not being taken seriously, among other things. This is what we wrote last year about fear:
“This year, we are making it a goal to live more open lives. Basically, we want to express ourselves on a more regular basis (read: increase our social media presence) so that you all can get to know us on a more personal level. In terms of wedding planning, a wedding is one of the most personal and special experiences in a person’s life and for us to succeed, we have to get to know you. It is only fitting that you get to know us as well.”
This blog has been and always will be our “home base” where we will share our thoughts and ideas and lives with you all. We have gotten better at letting go of fear and sharing pieces of our lives throughout the year and we’ll keep this going strong in 2016!
Be Awesome
Our last goal for 2015 was to be awesome 🙂
We wanted to chase success and look good doing it. We wanted to work hard, play hard and we did just that! At the end of the year, we feel fulfilled, excited, hopeful, exhilarated, and… exhausted. To everyone who is wearing multiple “hats” whether you have on a businesswoman hat or a mom hat or an entrepreneur hat or a daughter hat or all of the above – we all have those responsibilities that suck up tons of time, and we’re right there with you! Trust me. This season of your life is hard but it’ll pass and you’ll soon be on to a new level of success, with new problems, and even greater horizons in the future.
Our calendar for 2016 is looking great and we’ve got about one more week of hiatus until we’re back in full force! We’ll be sharing our 2015 BBE goal recap soon and our 2016 personal and BBE goals too this month if you want to follow along! Have a happy Monday!
